Last year, the Zephyrus Duo was supposed to be one of the gaming notebooks that would take an even bigger leap into the multi-display notebook space – it was powered by Intel, but there were always rumors about what would happen if it worked with AMD Ryzen instead? Well, who would have thought – the Zephyrus Duo 15 SE not only works with AMD Ryzen, but also carries the Special Edition label due to its all-black finish. We loved the Zephyrus G14, and I have to say it was the most compact and beefy laptop ever released. The notebook now has a new design and further improvements for 2021.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE

To be fair, the Zephyrus Duo 15 SE is pretty much the same Duo as last year and which we even wrote a practical report about – which you can read here. As for the glossy and matte finish of the chassis with the new ROG design, but in a rather stealthy black to look attractive, and let’s face it, it’s another way to differentiate Team Blue from racing laptops. At the bottom of the laptop is the same ROG ScreenPad Plus, which allows you to use different applications – be it gaming, streaming, content creation or just multitasking.

The case still features the Aero+ active cooling system we saw last year. The laptop has a 28.5mm air intake in the C section, and this 30% opening provides much better cooling than the AAS we saw on older Zephyrus laptops.

The rest of the notebook is equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen processor combined with an NVIDIA GPU. Consumers can choose between a 4K 120Hz or FHD 300Hz display for their laptop, but either way it covers 100% of Adobe’s RGB color space. The vehicle’s speakers are Dolby Atmos certified and you will enjoy the sound coming from the vehicle. Finally, by today’s standards, we have Wi-Fi 6 for better connectivity and, most importantly, a 100Wh charging capacity via USB-C PD.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and 15

The laptop has a new or improved color finish called Prismatic Finish, which gives the device an overall look and takes the color in a different direction. This is done through a new process where the stamper rolls the pattern onto the film to create this look. Anime Matrix takes customization to a whole new level, including a new virtual assistant and power-saving mode.

Otherwise, the laptop remains the same G14 we saw and tested last year. Under the hood, it gets a specification bump to make it better – a new AMD processor and an NVIDIA RTX 30 Series GPU under the hood.

The Zephyrus G15 gets a new notebook in white, unlike last year when it was only available in grey and black. It also receives a unique stylized LED flash inspired by supercars. Subtle, but sweet. In terms of weight, the G15 has gone from 2.1 kg to 1.9 kg. Like the Strix notebook, it has an 85% higher screen-to-body ratio – and features a 165Hz DCI-P3 display with 300nits of brightness and has been confirmed by Pantone.

The trackpad has a 20% larger surface area for better tracking. The features are the same as the G15, and under the hood it has a lot to offer: over 6 speakers for great sound, including two powerful woofers with noise cancellation and a set of 3D microphones for two-way noise cancellation and more. Unfortunately, he has no camera.
