The PS4 offers a pretty tight connection between well-designed software and hardware. However, this does not make it immune to the hardware flaws that plague all technologies.

In this article, we will talk about the error CE-30005-8, its causes and what you can do to get rid of it.

According to Sony, the error is usually caused by a hardware problem with the Blu-ray player or an external drive. You will probably get an error message when you try to open a game or application stored in one of these sources.

Error CE-30005-8 is due to a defective Blu-ray Disc or a defective external drive. Let’s take one diagnosis at a time.

Check Blu-ray Disc

If the disc is already in the drive when this error occurs, try removing, cleaning, and restarting the disc to determine if there is a problem with the disc or a hardware error on the Blu-ray Disc.

To eject the disc, press the eject button on the console, just below the power button, or the option button on the Dualshock 4 controller on the home screen, which allows you to eject the disc from the side menu.

After removing the disk, try cleaning it with a soft cloth and reinserting it into the console. If your game works, so much the better. Otherwise, there is a hardware problem with the Blu-ray Disc.

At this stage, we recommend that you call in a professional to repair your console, as the fault could range from a bad connection to a faulty drive.

The PS4 is a pretty complicated console inside, and if you don’t know what you’re doing, you can easily run up your repair bill a few times more than if you just replaced the drive.

External drive diagnostics

If your Blu-ray Disc issues are resolved and PS4 error CE-30005-8 still occurs, the problem is probably in your external drive. From there, there are now three ways to solve this problem.

  • Delete and restore data from hard disk.
  • Rebuild your console database.
  • Deactivate all mods you use.

If none of the above methods work, you will probably need to replace your external hard drive with a new one.

Removing solid data from the hard disk

This method is the simplest of all and requires the least amount of work. Note that you will need a backup of your game data if you want to restore your progress. We recommend backing up your data to the cloud because you are having problems with data storage on your system.

Step one: Go to PS4 settings.

Step two: You can find the management of saved data in the Settings menu of the application.

Step three: Click Data saved to system memory.

Step four: Press the Delete key

Step Five: Find the game you’re having trouble with and press the X button on your Dualshock 4 controller to clear the game data.

Now restart the game or application to see if the error persists.

Restoring the console database

The PS4’s safe mode offers many useful options that can help solve a variety of problems with the console. One of these options is Database Rebuild, the fifth option in the Safe Mode menu.

This allows the player to be restructured so that the console can read it as if it were new. This option may help to circumvent some other memory problems, and possibly correct error CE-30005-8.

Disable all mods you use.

If you have mods installed via the Nexus Mod Manager, disabling them will likely solve the problem. It may not work, but it’s worth a try.

If all of the above methods don’t work, it’s time to replace your hard drive with a new one. Make sure you have at least a terabyte of storage and reliable speeds.

You also need to install the PS4 system software following the same process as if you were updating your PS4 manually.
