We live in the age of technology, and while free WiFi is becoming the norm in many public places, it is not so common to get free internet at home without having to pay for it. But in today’s article, we will find out what your options are for getting free internet at home, legally.

The easiest way to get free Internet access at home is by using one of the many free WiFi Internet options available. Some places are easier than others.

But we will go through all the methods you have to legally get free internet access, hopefully without paying. So if you want to continue surfing without spending an extra dollar online, read on!

How do you get free internet access at home without paying?

Below we give an overview of the best methods to get free internet access at home.

In most cases it’s about getting free WiFi instead of a wired connection, but wireless internet can also offer good download speeds.

1. Search for free wifi access points

This is probably the easiest thing you can do to find free and legal internet access for your home. And you’ll be surprised how many options you have in some places.

Of course, if you live in the suburbs or in a village far from the city, you probably don’t have many options, but it can’t hurt to try.

From people who consciously decided not to block access to the outside world with passwords, to various other open internet sources, the reasons why you see more free WiFi hotspots at home are varied, but not of great importance.

Just scan the WiFi settings on your laptop or phone and look for the settings that don’t have a lock icon or don’t say safe.

To do this on your laptop, click on the WiFi icon in the taskbar and wait until the list is full.

On your phone, go to Settings – WiFi and view the list of available networks.

An open WiFi hotspot that you can connect to for free would look like the one shown below (very weak signal in my case, but I managed to find a free hotspot even though I don’t live in a crowded area):

Free wifi access point

Just connect to this open WiFi hotspot and you can surf for free at home without paying!

Remember that in some cities in the world (a relatively limited number at the moment), the authorities offer free Internet access. They are usually overloaded very quickly, but we are sure that they will improve over time and also become more affordable.

2. Check if your ISP offers free WiFi.

Although it’s not completely free, because you always need some kind of plan with your ISP, in the end you might be surprised that some ISPs offer some kind of free internet to their customers or even to the general public.

This means that you visit the websites of the various Internet service providers in your region and see what their appointments are.

In most cases, if you are already a paying customer, you can activate the option in your account to get free WiFi access (the activation process varies from operator to operator – but check your account to see how).

In some cases, ISPs offer free WiFi internet even if you are not their customer, but with some restrictions on the speed or volume of traffic you receive (or both).

But it’s very useful if you want free wifi internet at home, if you’re already a paying customer but don’t have a wifi router yet. Or for those moments when you’re on the road and just want a quick and free internet session.

3. Using the wireless zone

A visit to this site is like a trip to the past (at least at the time of writing), but it’s definitely worth it.

WiFiFreeSpot is a website that lists all the free wifi options in every state of the United States, as well as other options such as airports offering free wifi, large companies offering it or a list of hotels where you can get free wifi.

But the most useful for you will be the current list of free WiFi options in every U.S. state. Just click on the state in which you live (or plan to visit), and you’ll see most of the free internet options.

I say most, not all, because there are certainly many more options in each state – but this page offers a variety of options, especially for those who are not sure where to start looking for free Internet access at home.

4. Getting free internet access with Freedom Pop

Freedom Pop internet free offers Freedom Pop at the time of writing.

Freedom Pop is an excellent resource if you are looking for free internet – and many benefits. However, their offer of free internet has decreased over the years, but it is still better than nothing.

Freedom Pop now offers a wide range with 25 MB of free internet per month (that’s EXTREMELY low), as well as unlimited free wifi phone calls, and free iMessages and RCS via wifi. If you only want to call via WiFi, this is a good opportunity for you.

You have to pay, but the cost is very low, only 5 dollars for a SIM card. Once you have done this and activated it, you can use the freemium plan, which contains the options mentioned above.

The company used to offer 500 MB of free internet, but over the years the offer has changed into what it is today.

25 MB of data is nothing, but unlimited wifi calls and iMessages are really useful. Check their proposal carefully and see if they have made any other changes. We do our best to keep the article up to date, but things can still change without warning.

5. Get free internet access with NetZero

NetZero is another company that offers not one, but two different options for free Internet access at home: a free mobile subscription and a free dial-up connection.

I know that when we hear about dial-up, we think the mid-90s are back…. but that’s one of the problems with the free internet: it’s not the best there is. It’s always better than nothing!

NetZero also offers speeds five times faster than regular WiFi, so you’ll never get tired of checking your email.

In addition, you are only entitled to 10 hours of free internet per month, but that is certainly better than nothing. Make sure that all details of their plan are posted on the official website.

If dialling in isn’t really your thing (hey, it’s the 21st century after all!), they offer a different, more modern plan. With your mobile plan you can get 200 MB of data per month for free.

You need to rent your NetZero mobile broadband device for 12 months (so it’s not really free), but the costs are extremely low and 200 MB can be considered a decent amount.

6. Using the phone as a WiFi Access Point

Free internet via your smartphone

You can get free wifi Internet access at home, but you still need a mobile package that gives you access to the Internet. And in most cases, you have to pay for it.

But I still share this method because many people don’t know that they can turn their phone into a router and use their laptop or Chromebook to access the internet for free.

Most modern phones have the ability to turn into a WiFi access point (also called tethering).

It can easily be activated via the phone settings. Once activated, you can connect other devices by following the instructions on the phone. They differ from model to model, but it’s very simple.

Make sure you choose a secure password to prevent others from logging into your phone’s access point. Also keep an eye on how much data you use, especially if your data plan is limited.

But fortunately, more and more providers are offering cheap, unlimited mobile data subscriptions. If you have such a plan, you’re in luck: Simply activate the connection option (mobile hotspot) on your mobile device and connect other devices – such as laptops, tablets or other phones – to use these resources.

7. Free WiFi at the neighbours

You’d be surprised how far you can go when you ask. Be polite and maintain good relations with your neighbours, they can offer you free internet access.

In most cases, on most packages these days, an additional user will not really reduce the speed or performance of the service, so they will not have a slower internet if they decide to share with you.

Of course, this does not mean that you should abuse their goodwill and continue downloading large amounts of data or performing resource-intensive tasks. Sharing the Internet, like. B. Internet browsing and instant messaging, but should take up minimal bandwidth and satisfy the neighbors.

You can also make an appointment with them to use the Internet only if they are not at home or if they do not use the Internet normally (if they are willing to share this information).

You can also try to return the favour in a certain way, for example. For example by offering to let the dog out, clean the garden, watch the children or even bake a cake once in a while to thank you.

The world will really be a better place if we help each other and are grateful if we get help. And no, there’s no shame in asking!

8. Use InstaBridge on yourphone .

http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/1608381315_798_How-to-Get-Free-Internet-WiFi-at-Home.jpg

InstaBridge is a very interesting and potentially useful application that you can install on your phone via the Google Play Store or the App Store.

It has a database of more than 10 million WiFi access points around the world, with the passwords to connect to it (if needed). So you can use the Internet at home – if you are near such an access point – or on the road, free of charge.

These WiFi hotspots can usually be found in cafes, restaurants and other public places. It is therefore preferable to use this application when you are on the road and need access to the Internet for a short period of time.

But under certain circumstances, you can use it to surf the internet at home free of charge if you are within easy reach.

But since there would be a grey area if you followed this approach to get free wifi at home, it might be best to ask the café staff if they agree to let you use it (in most cases they won’t!).

9. Cheap Go Dirt options / total cost

Many people who view Netflix on their phone don’t pay a plan – or only a fraction of the cost, because the company allows them to create multiple profiles on a single plan.

A similar agreement may be concluded for access to the Internet in order to significantly reduce costs. Of course it won’t be exactly free, but depending on how many people share the cost, it will be minimal and you can usually get a really solid deal.

This works best in shared apartments. If you have one or more housemates, make sure that the costs are shared. You can also do it with your neighbours – just talk to the people around you and see what possibilities there are.

If this is still not possible, many ISP companies offer very inexpensive options or introductory offers for new customers. So you can take advantage of free months when signing a new contract (it is not uncommon to get up to 6 months free of charge) or reduced rates for a certain period.

When your contract expires, you can simply transfer to another company and take advantage of their offer, or maybe you are in a better financial situation and can simply afford to pay your monthly costs and continue working for your existing company.

Either way, you have options, so make sure you check out all the Internet Service Providers in your area and see what offers they have for new customers – they’re usually very good and cheap!

Conclusion

Free internet access at home becomes easier over time. And if in terms of speed the internet that you can get for free at home is acceptable in most cases, it’s better than nothing.

We can only hope that as technology progresses, it will become easier for us to get free and high quality internet at home, or at least have cheap options available worldwide.

Don’t forget that even if you can’t use any of the methods described above, you can still get free internet in your local library, in shopping malls and cafes, and in some neighborhoods.

Moreover, students generally have free internet access at school. So all you need is a good but cheap Chromebook, and you can surf the web without too many restrictions (although watching Netflix at school can be a real headache).
