China’s information and communication technology giant Huawei is a multinational technical company based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Founded just three decades ago, Huawei has built a worldwide reputation as the leading global provider of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and intelligent devices. Today, Huawei has its roots in more than 170 countries and serves more than three billion people with different ICT devices.

FINANCING

Huawei was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, former deputy head of the People’s Liberation Army Regiment. The company was founded by Renauld to produce switches for telephone switchboards and has made a big leap forward since then. In just 30 years, it has become the world’s largest manufacturer of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and intelligent devices.

HUAWEI – FROM MOBILE SWITCHES TO A GLOBAL ICT GIANT

FIRST YEAR

The company’s first activity started with the resale of PBX (Private Branch Office Switches) imported from Hong Kong. The company’s greatest success came in 1991, when it launched China’s most powerful C&C08 software-driven switchboard. After 1994, the company began producing switches for the People’s Liberation Army of China and was awarded an important contract for the construction of the first national telecommunications network for the People’s Liberation Army.

The biggest turning point for the company was the Chinese government’s decision to support local companies through state contracts with telecom manufacturers and to restrict access to foreign competitors. Huawei was promoted by the government and the army, and it was a flying moment for the company. In accordance with this policy, the company has signed many major government contracts and has successfully established research and development centers throughout China.

FOREIGN TRANSACTIONS

Huawei soon began to develop international markets. In 1997 it began exporting fixed telephony products to Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa and then offered many other ICT products to overseas companies.

Until 1999. Huawei will be present in India, the largest potential market for the ICT of the future. The company has opened an office in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Later, Huawei worked with many of the world’s technology giants on combination products, such as 3Com in a joint venture called H3C, which in 2003 focused on equipment for enterprise networks.  The global framework agreement with Vodafone was signed in 2005. In 2007, Huawei formed a joint venture with Symantec Corporation, an American security software company that eventually became Huawei Symantec and specializes in providing complete network solutions for data storage and security.

In 2012, Huway will have a strong global presence with regional offices in most developed and developing countries. In September 2017 Huawei created a narrowband internet of things for the urban network with one network, one platform, N-applications.
